I painted this en plein air during a workshop with Shanna Kunz. It was early in the morning, and me not being a morning person, I was probably only half conscious at the time I started. The cows were grazing lazily and they were far in front of me, but they were the most interesting subject to me in this spot. So I indicated the herd with dark paint smudges, and am pleased that do read as cows.
